Google is gearing up to unveil its next-gen smartwatch, the Google Pixel Watch 2, at the Pixel 8 series event slated for October 4th. The company has confirmed that the Pixel Watch 2 will also launch in India, with the price reveal set for October 5th. While Google has only disclosed the watch’s design so far, we’ve acquired exclusive information on its feature set.

According to a leak from Kamila Wojciechowska, shared via 91mobiles, the Pixel Watch 2 promises to bring a plethora of features surpassing its predecessor. Leaked documents and a promo video have given us a deeper look into what to expect from this upcoming device.

A significant addition is Fitbit’s multi-path heart rate sensor, designed to provide more accurate heart-rate measurements even during intense physical activities. Furthermore, the Pixel Watch 2 will integrate Fitbit’s stress management system, leveraging body-response tracking. This system uses a variety of biometric inputs, such as cEDA (continuous electrodermal activity), heart-rate variability, and skin temperature, to identify stress levels in real-time.

In the realm of fitness, the smartwatch will be able to identify seven common workouts, including running and outdoor cycling. Additionally, it will feature Pace Training to help users maintain a consistent workout rhythm. Automated reminders for starting and stopping workouts also find their way into the feature set.

Safety features have seen an overhaul as well. The ‘Safety Check’ feature allows users to set a timer for specific scenarios. If the timer runs out without user intervention, the watch can automatically initiate ‘Emergency Sharing,’ notifying emergency contacts with real-time location data. This functionality can also be triggered manually and includes the option to share ‘Medical Info’ with emergency services.

Despite its rich feature set, the Pixel Watch 2 will maintain a 24-hour battery life with an always-on display. A full day’s charge can reportedly be achieved in just 75 minutes.

As for the design, the Pixel Watch 2 adopts a 100% aluminum body and will be available in four color combinations: Polished Silver/Bay, Matte Black/Obsidian, Champagne Gold/Hazel, and Polished Silver/Porcelain. New Metal Slim and Active Sport bands have also been introduced.

All in all, the Pixel Watch 2 appears to be a substantial upgrade over its predecessor, promising enhancements in health and fitness tracking, safety, and more. Keep an eye out for the official unveiling on October 4th to confirm these leaked details.
