A leaked image presents a detailed OLED roadmap for various Apple products, outlining a shift to OLED displays across the iPad and Mac lineups. The roadmap, attributed to Revegnus (Tech_Reve), suggests significant changes starting in 2024.
iPad and MacBook OLED Transition
The iPad Pro is set to adopt OLED technology with an estimated annual production of 8-10 million units for the 11.0″ model and 4-6 million units for the 13.0″ model, both starting from 2024. Notably, a new 20.3″ iPad Pro featuring foldable OLED technology is projected for 2027, with an expected quantity of 1 million units.
In the MacBook segment, both the 13.6″ MacBook Air and the 15.2″ version are projected to have OLED screens from 2024, with a production volume of 9-10 million units each. The “question mark” on the roadmap for the MacBook Air may indicate uncertainty or incomplete data for that particular model.
iMac and MacBook Pro OLED Update
The roadmap indicates a similar OLED upgrade for the MacBook Pro models, with the 14.2″ and 16.2″ versions each anticipated to incorporate OLED displays from 2024, with an estimated 4-6 million units produced annually.
For the iMac, the transition to OLED will start in 2024 for the 21.5″ model, with an annual quantity of 2-3 million units, and for the 27.0″ and 32.0″ models, with 1-2 million and less than 0.5 million units respectively. A 42.0″ iMac with OLED is also projected for 2024, signaling an expansion of Apple’s desktop lineup.
All arrows on the roadmap stretch through to 2029, indicating a long-term commitment to OLED technology across Apple’s product ranges. As these changes are anticipated to begin in 2024, consumers and industry watchers are poised to see a new era of Apple displays with the advantages that OLED technology brings.
