A new report has surfaced suggesting that Apple is poised to take its smartwatch game to the next level. According to Jeff Pu from Hai Tong International, Apple is planning to unveil the Apple Watch Ultra with microLED technology in the autumn of 2025. Mass production for the cutting-edge smartwatch is slated to kick off in early 2026.

This development could mark a significant shift in display technology for the Apple Watch line. MicroLED is renowned for its low power consumption and superior color accuracy, potentially providing future Apple Watch models with significant improvements in battery life and display quality.

Pu also mentioned that the Apple Vision Pro’s micro-OLED will be upgraded to microLED. Apple Vision Pro is the tech giant’s upcoming headset designed for augmented and virtual reality, set for a 2024 launch. The upgrade to microLED technology could bring about similar enhancements in display quality and battery efficiency for the headset, making it a compelling device for both AR and VR experiences.

While details are still scant, these planned advancements underline Apple’s commitment to incorporating top-tier technology in its wearables. As always, we advise taking analyst predictions with a grain of salt until official announcements are made.
