Recent updates point to a nifty change Apple is bringing to the iPhone 15 Pro. With the upcoming iOS 17.1 update, iPhone 15 Pro users can look forward to a more refined Action button experience. The aim? To prevent accidental triggers of the camera or flashlight when the phone is in your pocket.
iOS 17.1 Targets Action Button Annoyances
We’ve all faced it. You put your iPhone in your pocket, and suddenly the flashlight or camera activates, draining your battery. Good news. Apple is planning to fix this. Spotted in the latest beta by MacRumors, iOS 17.1 will include a pocket-detection feature. It will stop unwanted activations of specific features when your phone is tucked away.
Not All Actions are Restricted
Now, you may wonder if this update restricts all actions. The answer is no. This update only affects actions that could accidentally drain your phone’s battery. For instance, if you’ve set your Action button to toggle silent mode or trigger a shortcut, those will still work.
Unlock the Full Potential of Action Button
Introduced this year, the Action Button replaces the mute switch on the iPhone 15 Pro. It’s a versatile tool. With eight options available in the Settings menu, the Action Button offers more than just toggling between silent and ringer mode. You can customize it to open the Camera app, record a voice note, change Focus modes, and much more. So the iOS 17.1 update adds just one more layer of utility to an already useful feature.
The public release of iOS 17.1 is scheduled for late October. Until then, you can test these new features on iPhone 15 Pro running iOS 17.1 beta 3.
We are eagerly waiting for the release to see how these refinements improve the iPhone experience.
